The revolutionary element surface combines versatility in colour and special effect finishes with functionality to create inspiration for residential and commercial interiors. Element is a pre-finished MDF panel coated with a durable Climate powder coat surface on both sides. The powder paint is thermally fused to the board, creating a durable, even surface that won’t delaminate from heat or moisture.
Powder coating is an ideal finishing solution for machined MDF components to create a seamless finish that provides design freedom at an economical price point. Furthermore the durability of powder coating ensures a longer life cycle and lower maintenance costs. Fully finished components specifically manufactured to any design specification is now available.

Care and Cleaning
Not only is element remarkably versatile, it is also easy to maintain. To keep it looking pristine, just wipe clean with a damp cloth and a diluted solution of mild liquid detergent in warm water.
The element panel is supplied with a protective clear adhesive film to one face that protects the surface up to the final point of a project’s completion.
Element E0
element is now available as 'Made to Order' EO MR MDF board sourced from sustainable forest resources. The raw MDF used for element EO meets the requirements of AS/NZS1859 Part 2 for E0, which is classified as less than or equal to 0.5mg/L. Minimum quantities and lead times apply.

Dimension Elements
Element Dimension range designs add texture, shape and depth in a pre-finished panel form. These attributes can be used together to effect complex form and texture. Element Dimension is a non-structural product that responds well to use in both new and retrofit situations. It can be readily fixed to existing walls with minimum effort and cost.

Create Your Own is the premium element colour offer for design professionals providing greater choice, flexibility and ease of use. It is ideal for larger commercial, retail and residential projects where extensive colour choice and innovative surface effects are required.
The RAL™ Colour System
Containing 1,688 colours and arranged systematically, the RAL Colour System has been developed for professional colour design and makes simple the selection, communication and specification of element from design phase to construction.
To Create Your Own Element:
- Contact your Gunnersen representative.
- Select your colour from the RAL Colour System.
- Select the Effect Type from the Create Your Own Effect sample provided in your element Specifier Box.
- Complete the Create Your Own Request Form with your Gunnersen representative.
- Receive an element laboratory prepared sign-off sample.
- Approve the sample and specify your new element product.
- Refer to the element Specification Manual for specification guidelines.
Effects available in Create Your Own

Performance Testing
element has been tested by the Furniture Industry Research Association, the world’s leading Independent Furniture Technology Centre.
The FIRA Standard 6250: 2005 and the related methods of tests are designed to determine the acceptability of an exposed surface of furniture, such as cabinets, kitchens, desks and worktops, to be able to withstand the rigors of day to day use.
Tested element product meets the requirements for FIRA Standard 6250: 2005, Specification: Furniture Materials (Interior Applications), which assess the durability of finishes for:
- Resistance to mechanical damage
- Resistance to dry and wet heat
- Resistance to cold liquids, oils and fats

Cleaning
To keep element panels looking pristine, just wipe clean with a damp cloth and a diluted solution of mild liquid detergent in warm water, followed by a clean damp cloth to ensure detergent and moisture residue is removed.

Limitations of Use
Never use element in wet or high humidity areas (shower, sauna), high wear areas or exterior applications.

Handling and Machining
element sheets are supplied with Tough Film, a protective plastic film applied to one face of the panel. The Tough Film is designed to protect the surface throughout transit, handling, machining and installation and should not be removed during fabrication.
element can be cut, drilled, routed and edge banded with current wood working machinery. Care should be taken while handling and machining element to avoid scratching and marking. Use only the recommended solvent based cleaner for the removal of adhesives during fabrication. For full details refer to the element Specification Manual.
